Turmeric Chai latte
Serves: 4
The coziest drink a new mother can drink! Aids in digestion, reduces inflammation, full of healthy fat, and helps support milk production.
Ingredients
3” piece of ginger, thinly sliced
2 cinnamon sticks
2 tablespoon green cardamom pods
1 teaspoon black peppercorns
1 teaspoon fennel seeds
1 teaspoon fenugreek seeds
1 teaspoon whole cloves
2 bay leaves
6 cups filtered water
½ teaspoon turmeric powder
4 cups coconut milk or milk from pasture-raised cows
Pinch of saffron
Honey or maple syrup to taste
Nutmeg (optional)
Directions
In a medium pot, add the ginger, cinnamon, cardamom pods, black peppercorns, fennel seeds, fenugreek seeds, whole cloves, and bay leaves and water.
Bring the pot to a boil over high heat. Turn the heat to medium-low and cover. Simmer for 45 minutes.
Add the milk, turmeric, and saffron. Simmer on low heat for 3-5 minutes longer.
Strain into a mug. Add maple syrup or honey to taste. Sprinkle with nutmeg if using.
Best enjoyed hot. Can be stored in the fridge for up to 5 days.
